Fall Classes 2011

Improv!

September 22 – December 22 (14 weeks) Thursdays 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Students 11-18 years will learn the skills necessary to become a successful improviser.  We will focus on learning exercises and playing a variety of games specifically developed for skill-building and performance in the art of improvisation.

Acting Out

September 8 -December 15 (15 weeks) Thursdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Students age 8-12 will be introduced to the exciting world of theatre by working on their acting skills through a variety of fun theatre games.  Students will be encouraged to develop their imagination, creativity and self-confidence in a relaxed atmosphere.  This class is ideal for students who have little to no acting experience and want to explore their dramatic side without the pressure of a final performance.  The final scheduled class will be open to family and friends to watch (and possibly participate!)

Jumpstart

September-December 2011 (15 weeks) Thursdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.

September-December 2011 (15 weeks) Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m. 

A games-based program for children ages 6 and 7 looking to explore musical theatre. Through dramatic play, we learn basic music and theatre terminology while playing with different characters and singing songs. The focus of the program is on developing basic musical skills such as pitch matching and steady beat, as well as building confidence, body awareness, group cooperation & of course having fun. There will be a small family & friend in-house presentation at the end of each term that will highlight concepts covered in the classes.

Playmates

September 22-November 24 (10 weeks) Thursdays 10:00-11:00 a.m.

In this class, preschoolers ages 3-5 years old will have the opportunity to be imaginative and expressive in order to develop their social, emotional, creative and physical abilities.  They will also explore the way their bodies move and how they can interact with others, develop self-confidence and learn to make distinctions between the real and the imaginary world.
