Countdown to first audience: t-minus 2 days
Today was absolutely amazing, we were called at 3:30 and shortly thereafter, we began finishing last night’s Q 2 Q. that was fairly uneventful and by 6:00, we were supposed to go get into hair, makeup and costume in order to begin our first dress rehearsal for Annie. Since we had already gotten our mics on for Q 2 Q, we didn’t have to redo that and soon we were up and running.
As soon as I stepped onto the stage, I felt exhilaration. The nerves that I had experienced earlier about acting on such a grand stage were gone and left in their place, was a smile that I couldn’t wipe off my face no matter how hard I tried. Everyone was excited about finally getting to perform in costume and the greenroom was like a beehive, buzzing with energy that the volunteers and stage manager tried hard to wrangle in.
We only had a couple of mishaps occur during the run, and none of them were very major. This is seriously the best part of the process. The last few rehearsals before the performance are great because they allow you to gain confidence and to get used to working in a different environment than the rehearsal space.
Another thing that most of us older students overlook, that is a novelty to the newer students is how wonderful and efficient all of the volunteers are. They do a wonderful job, and without them we would have no show. They are necessary for our success I don’t think we give them enough credit.
Tomorrow night, we have another dress rehearsal and I am greatly looking forward to it! This show is going to be great!
